THERE are sexy lace ones, hot pink, purple and green ones, not to mention unflattering maternity and training ones.
The Kurri Kurri Centrelink office has resembled a bra shop over the past month; its six office staff have collected 977 bras for the Queensland Cancer Fund. For every bra donated, Queensland businesses will donate $1 towards national breast cancer research. Workable bras will then be sent to women in Third World countries. Kurri Centrelink manager Jodi Cassar said her staff originally hoped to receive 100 bras. They received that in the first couple of days. "We've been absolutely overwhelmed, we received 214 bras just this morning from Father Riley's Op Shop in Maitland," Ms Cassar said on Monday. She said her only male employee Rob Akers was "overwhelmed" with the donations. Ms Cassar said the office had received bras from organisations and businesses, which included women's gym Curves, St Vincent de Paul, Kurri Kurri Red Cross, Kurri Kurri Bowling Club and Kurri Workers Club. Ms Cassar said workable bras could be donated to any Hunter Centrelink office or Newcastle, Toronto, Wallsend, Charlestown, Kotara or Raymond Terrace Medicare offices until the end of September.
